Quick comparison

There are five ways into the city, from the cheapest to the most comfortable. The times below are for normal traffic. Rush hour on the roads into New Belgrade can add a lot.

Prices change, so treat the numbers as a guide and check the official airport pages before you travel.

  • Bus 72 to Zeleni venac: free, about 30 to 40 minutes.
  • A1 minibus to Slavija: about 30 minutes, a few hundred dinars paid in cash to the driver.
  • Night line 72N to Trg republike, plus lines 600 and 607: free, for late arrivals and other parts of town.
  • Taxi with a voucher: fixed price by zone, from RSD 2,300 for New Belgrade, about 25 to 30 minutes to the centre outside rush hour.
  • Private transfer: a driver waiting at arrivals and one vehicle for your whole group and your bags. Free when combined with our 4- or 6-hour city tour.

Is there a free bus from Belgrade Airport to the city center?

Yes. Since 1 January 2025, public transport in Belgrade has been free for everyone, and that includes the airport lines. You do not need a ticket or a card for bus 72. The city explains the scheme on the Belgrade public transport website.

Bus 72 runs between the airport and Zeleni venac, a stop in the old centre a short walk from Knez Mihailova street and Terazije. The ride takes about 30 to 40 minutes. Current details are on the airport's page for line 72.

Keep in mind it is a city bus, not an airport shuttle. There is no special luggage space, so with big suitcases it can feel tight at busy times. If your hotel is far from Zeleni venac, you will still need a taxi or a walk for the last part.

A1 minibus to Slavija

The A1 is a minibus from the airport to Slavija square, and the ride takes about 30 minutes. Slavija sits at the edge of Vračar, which is handy for hotels around the square and for Saint Sava Temple.

The A1 is not part of the free city system. You buy the ticket from the driver and pay in cash, in Serbian dinars only. The fare is a few hundred dinars, so check the current price on the airport's A1 page and have small notes ready.

There is no card payment and no euros on board. If you land without dinars, use an ATM in the terminal before you walk out to the stop.

Night line 72N and lines 600 and 607

Late arrivals have the night line 72N, which goes from the airport to Trg republike, Republic Square, in the middle of the old town. It is free, like the day lines.

Two more lines leave from the airport. Line 600 goes to Belgrade Centre railway station, useful if you are connecting to a train. Line 607 goes to Banovo brdo, a residential neighbourhood south-west of the centre.

Timetables can change, so check the airport's public transport page before you count on a night bus.

How much is a taxi from Belgrade Airport?

The official way to take a taxi is with a voucher from an e-kiosk. There are three kiosks in the baggage reclaim area and one in the arrivals hall. You choose your destination zone, the kiosk prints a voucher with the price, and you give it to the driver at the taxi rank.

The price on the voucher covers up to four passengers with luggage, and the driver may charge only what is printed on it. If someone in the terminal offers you a ride without a voucher, the kiosk is the safer choice. The rules are on the airport's taxi page and in its price list.

At the time of writing, the zones and prices are:

  • New Belgrade: RSD 2,300
  • Old Town (Stari grad), Vračar and Savski venac: RSD 3,000
  • Outer parts such as Karaburma, Banjica and the further parts of Zvezdara: RSD 3,700

Ride-hailing apps

Ride-hailing apps work in Belgrade, and some travellers prefer them. Which apps are active, where they pick up at the airport and what they charge can change, so check the app on arrival before you go out to the curb.

App prices move with demand. After a wave of arrivals or in bad weather, the fare can end up close to the taxi voucher or above it. Compare both while you wait for your bags.

If you are a group with several suitcases, make sure the car you order is big enough. A regular car fits only a few bags.

Private transfer vs taxi

A taxi voucher covers up to four people. A family of five, or two couples with big suitcases, often end up needing two taxis. That is when a private van starts to make sense.

Our Mercedes V-Class vans take six or seven passengers with their luggage, and an 8-seat van is available if you ask in advance. Your driver follows your flight number, waits at arrivals with a name sign and helps with the bags. The whole vehicle is yours and never shared with other travellers.

The vans are run by two licensed Belgrade carriers, Premium Transfer and ATB Transport. You can see the vehicles on our fleet page, or book a private driver in Belgrade for other trips.

Arriving early? See the city on the way to your hotel

If you land in the morning, your hotel room is often not ready until 12:00 or 14:00. Instead of waiting in the lobby with your suitcases, you can see Belgrade first.

On our airport to hotel city tour, the driver meets you at arrivals and your suitcases stay locked in the van with the driver. You spend 4 or 6 hours at Kalemegdan, in the centre and at Saint Sava Temple, and we drop you at the hotel at check-in time. The airport transfer is free when you combine it with a 4- or 6-hour tour, such as the 4-hour city tour by van.

Our drivers point out the main sights, but they are drivers, not guides. For history and stories, add a licensed guide for 120 € for up to 4 hours. Write to us on WhatsApp or Viber at +381 61 732 6261, or through the contact page.
